Properties of Photoinitiator TPO 75980-60-8

Photoinitiator TPO, sometimes called Irgacure TPO, Lucirin TPO, is a high efficient UV photoinitiator. It is yellowish crystalline powder with below physical properties:

Density: 1.12 g/mL at 25 °C(lit.)
Flash Point: >230 °F
Melting Point: 88-92 °C(lit.)
Boiling Point: 519.6ºC at 760 mmHg
Refractive Index: n20/D 1.475(lit.)

TPO has a wide range of long UV wavelength absorption. Its effective absorption peak is 350nm ~ 400nm. Its absorption peak is longer than that of conventional initiator. Because of this, TPO photoinitiator is widely used in many applications.

Applications of Photoinitiator TPO 75980-60-8

The formal name of Photoinitiator TPO is Diphenyl(2,4,6-trimethylbenzoyl)phosphine oxide, CAS No. 75980-60-8. After irradiation, it produces two free radicals, benzoyl and phosphatidyl, both of which can initiate polymerization. Therefore, the photo-curing speed is fast. Photoinitiator TPO also has photobleaching effect, suitable for deep curing of thick film.  with yellow-resistant property. TPO has low volatility, suitable for water-based, mostly used in white system. It can be completely cured on the pigmented surface of white or high titanium dioxide. The coating does not yellowing, low post-polymerization effect and no residue.

Photoinitiator TPO can also be used for transparent coatings, especially for products with low odor requirements. It has high initiation efficiency when used alone in unsaturated polyester containing styrene system. As for Acrylate systems, especially colored systems, usually need to be used in combination with amine or acrylamide, and other photoinitiators to achieve complete curing of the system. The curing efficiency can be improved by mixing photoinitiator TPO with MOB 240 or CBP 393.

Quality Standard of Photoinitiator TPO 75980-60-8

Packaging and Storage of Photoinitiator TPO 75980-60-8

Toxicity and Safety: Photoinitiator TPO products have no irritation to human skin, therefore,  can be transported safely. No special safety measures are required, just follow the general chemical operation specifications.

Packaging: Normally, TPO is packed in 20 kg/cardboard drums, inner packed with PE bag. (As below image shown), also can be packed according to customer requirements.

Storage and transportation: TPO should be stored in a sealed, dry and dark place. It should be kept at low or room temperature to avoid sunlight and exposure to strong oxidants. TPO has a shelf life of two years in the original packaging container and under suitable storage conditions. Photoinitiator TPO should be stored in sealed containers at room temperature and under dry conditions.
